The inaugural Crypties Awards was held on November 30th at Decrypt Studios in Miami. It was an evening of celebration, recognition, and entertainment, honoring the best in the crypto industry. The evening was hosted by Josh Ostrovsky, also known as “The Fat Jewish”, and sponsored by a range of crypto projects, including Polygon, Filecoin Foundation, Lamina1, Async, BeetsDAO, The Gold Mask, Gem Set, Breakout, Anonymous, Infinite Objects, Ape Water, Decentralized Pictures, and Vault 721.

The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the Game of the Year award to Crypto Unicorns. Katrina Wolfe, the CEO of the game, accepted the statuette from Avery Akkineni of Vayner3. The other nominees in the category included Stepn, Zed Run, and Blankos Block Party.

The other awards given out during the evening included the Best DeFi Platform, the Best Privacy Project, the Best NFT Project, the Best Crypto Media Project, the Best Crypto Exchange, the Best Blockchain Project, and the Best Marketplace. Winners in these categories included projects such as Curve Finance, Tendermint Core, OpenSea, Decrypt, BitMEX, Ethereum, and Bancor Network, respectively.

The evening also included onstage panels and interviews from conferences and summits, including a discussion from Tezos co-founder Kathleen Breitman about the proof-of-stake mechanism used in the Tezos blockchain, her admiration for Tendermint, Ethereum and sharding, progressive decentralization, and NFT gaming with Decrypt’s Stephen Graves. Other talks included a discussion from Slow Ventures, Volt Capital, Conviction, and AngelBlock about raising money in a bear market, and a discussion from Vault 721 about the current state of the NFT industry.

The Crypties Awards was an exciting and memorable evening, celebrating the best of the best in the crypto industry. The awards show was a testament to the creativity, innovation, and dedication of the industry’s top projects, and it was an honor to recognize the achievements of these individuals and organizations.
